Malcolm Ricketts, Malcolm joined the Scottish Government in October 2013 and is Head of the Oil and Gas Division; and Deputy Director of the Energy and Climate Change Directorate. With responsibility for developing future policy, regulation and fiscal improvements, Malcolm’s role is a key link between the Scottish Government and the upstream industry in Scotland. The industry employs around 225,000 people in the country and has remaining reserves estimated of up to 24 billion boe.

Malcolm is an experienced oil and gas commercial/economic analyst with a deep knowledge of the upstream sector in the North Sea, with strong personal connections across the industry. Ten years at Wood Mackenzie, and working in an major operator and the service sector, gave Malcolm the opportunity to develop these skills. His role at WoodMac involved economic analysis of North Sea upstream oil & gas assets; valuation and analysis of acquisitions & divestments; and writing reports on topical commercial issues in the sector.
