The first CRP (Haifeng) CCR Report in China Coming out


Hosted by BCG and UK-China (CCUS) Center, the first CRP (Haifeng) CCR Report review event in China has been successfully held in Guangzhou at 9am on March 19, of which around 80 attendees are from ACCA21 of Ministry of Science and Technology, Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong province (GDDRC), British Embassy Beijing, enterprises and institutions like Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (GEDI), China Resources Power (CRP), CNOOC Shenzhen, as well as scientific research institutions such as South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, CAS, Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, CAS and China University of Petroleum.

Mr. Wu, Deputy Director of GDDRC said at the meeting, “CRP (Haifeng) CCR Report review event is scheduled at the closing day of UK-China (Guangdong) Low-carbon Week, which can show its significance.” Based on this, it is not difficult for us to see that CCS has played a crucial role in the construction of low-carbon Guangdong.

Seven experts from research institutions and companies on the front-line reviewed this Report and ultimately approved it on the event, on which China Resources Power (Haifeng) Units 3 and 4: 2×1000MW Ultra-supercritical Coal-fired Carbon Capture Ready (CCR) Report was published. CRP (Haifeng) project has planned to use CCS in 1000MW units and the solution of amine as an absorbent for the implementation of post-combustion capture. This is being on the testing stage in the CCS field across the world, so it is unprecedentedly pioneering and innovative. With increasingly serious climate change, the need to reduce emissions from greenhouse gases has been more apparent. If CCS is efficiently applied to capture 90% of CO2 emissions from power sector, the largest source of emissions, this can exert great significance on CO2 emission reductions for Guangdong, so as to promote the process of sustainability in China.
